Long ago, when Java ran on less than 3 billion devices, Tech Fair was the Computing Science Student Society's (CSSS) way of making sure our society members learned about the world beyond SFU. As time marched on, Tech Fair disappeared and was slowly forgotten...

...but, just like everything else, Tech Fair was rebooted! Since 2022, Tech Fair has been growing which means more booths, more students and more LinkedIn connections.

Whether you're a first year or on your last semester, Tech Fair is your chance to meet the industry!

Why Should I Go?

I'm a good student and I have side projects, I'm fine

Think about how many people are in the Computing Science program. How many of them are doing similar projects or doing the same interview prep as you? Your resumes are going to look very similar. This is an opportunity to have recruiters learn about you and maybe even get your resume past their filters.

I'm only in first or second year so there's no point in me going

Of course there is! Your Computing Science degree will teach you many things, but it can't teach you everything. Talk to recruiters about their tech stack, what made them want to hire their last few employees, and learn about companies that you have probably never heard of.

I'm only aiming for big tech, I don't care about anything smaller

There's a reason why they call Vancouver "Silicon Valley of the North" (it's because there are more tech companies here than you think).

What should I do to prepare?

Look up the companies that are attending, prepare some interesting questions, and come with an open mind (and maybe a few printed off resumes).

I'm still not convinced
